Feels Familiar
shareNovember 26, 2024
Recently, one of our staff had the opportunity to return to where she grew up for a visit. She shared with us the great joy and happiness she felt seeing all the places that had been so familiar to her many years ago.
This week, there will be so many who will be returning to a familiar place for Thanksgiving. College students coming home, children and grandchildren visiting childhood homes and grandparents, and many others.
Vacations are nice, but, after time away, it is almost refreshing – that moment we turn onto that last road that leads to the place that is familiar.
The writer of Hebrews teaches readers of the supremacy of Jesus over every familiar area of life and in Hebrews 13, he writes:
14 For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.
15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
A key truth of Scripture is to remind us that this world is not our home.
God’s desire is for His presence to become so familiar that coming into His presence thrills us as much as turning onto that final road toward home or walking in the door and seeing the familiar faces.
Enjoy celebrating Thanksgiving.
Revel in the familiar.
But let’s not neglect to spend time with our Lord and Savior ~ intentionally becoming even more familiar with Him that we begin to thrill more with the thought of His presence than we do with earthly, temporal pleasures and pursuits.
May a sense of Heaven and God’s holiness become our familiar this holiday season.
Happy Thanksgiving, Falcon Family and be safe over the holiday.
